NEW REVEL

Hmmm...I've discovered a new love...well two actually. They are inspiring my collection for Fall '10 ALOT! Its a mixture of Gareth Pugh and Helmut Lang. Gareth is a little too over the top for me, but I love the protruding shape aspect and the simple colors that are in his designs. And Helmut Lang is just all around amazing. New Fall '09 is so incredible. Its perfect, its doing what Alexander Wang's Fall '08 did for me. Although, I am in love with Alexander Wang's Resort '09 collection. But anyways, I've decided to do a few quilted coats with very large puffy necks and protruding shape in some of them for my fall collection. I'm working on design development and finding new inspiration in knitwear. Being a Rodarte lover (obsessor) you would think I would love knitwear...but I've never found a true love for it. All of a sudden though, Rodarte and Rick Owens are clouding my mind and I'm really into exaggerated knit sleeves that go down to the floor and thick knit sweaters with high necks!
Horray for me, a new revelation! Some pics in the next entry, I'm working on design development right now :)

Fall 09

So, I've been poking around all day trying to find some more inspiration. I've been watching a lot of runway repeats today and I've picked out some stuff off style.com taking notice to the triangular shaped shoulders, lots of black and tan, and a lot of sheers. A lot of designers still went with the "gothic" theme that was so popular last Fall season. I like it, but for some designers, I felt that they were running out of ideas. Alexander Wang disappointed me for Fall this year. Sigh.... :(
But, here are some of my favs from the new fall 09 collections!!!

Twelve8Twelve-(Sienna Miller). Yes, I know, a leather jacket, but seriously, you just can't go wrong with a shaped soft leather jacket. It makes anything look stylish. The floral print is really pretty too. I'm not a floral fan, which is why this outfit caught my eye!

Costello Tagliapietra- So amazing. They are beautiful drapers. Soft suede. This dress is so classic and yet its so modern because of the color, the twisted fabric, and the actual fabric choice.

Rodarte- Sorry, but I have been obsessed with them since day one. The Mulleavey sisters are so amazing and creative. These colors are really refreshing for a fall collection. Although they threw in the occasional black pieces, these pastels with accents of a kelly green were so amazing. I love them, I love their designs, its all just perfect, every time.

I will post more as I sort through the fall collections. But, thats all for now!

First Blog Entry

Hi. My name is Carly and I am fashion design student at FIT in NYC. I am currently using this blog for my Associates portfolio. I will be adding thoughts on fashion, shows, and designs that I am really inspired by along with anything else that I feel is necessary to keep up with current trends and to help me create a beautiful portfolio.
My portfolio contains three collections starting with fall and going into early spring and then ending with a full spring collection.

FALL: flats and figures combination
Early Spring: flats only
Spring: flats and figures combination

I have three themes, one for each collection. I will post some mood pages that I have photoshopped in my next entry. But, its off to class for now!
